For our Global Tax Function in Basel, Switzerland, we have an open position for a dynamic Senior Tax Manager, focusing on M&A tax and Swiss tax. We are looking for a tax professional eager to develop and take responsibilities in a fast moving company.

What is it all about?

As Senior Manager (M&A tax / Swiss tax), you will be working closely with the Group Head of Tax and members of the global tax team on group-wide initiatives. A key focus will be on M&A projects, where you will be driving the tax workstream. You will also be responsible for managing all Swiss tax matters arising within the Lonza Group. Moreover, you will contribute to enhancing and monitoring the Group’s tax processes and controls.

For our Global Tax Function in Basel, Switzerland, we have an open position for a dynamic Indirect Tax Director. We are seeking an experienced tax professional eager to take global responsibilities for indirect tax in a fast moving company.

What is it all about?

As Lonza’s Indirect Tax Director, you will be responsible for all indirect tax matters within the Lonza Group along with a small team of indirect tax experts. Your responsibilities will encompass defining and executing strategic priorities while overseeing compliance processes (around 50 registrations). Furthermore, you will be managing risks as well as pursuing opportunities and process efficiencies (incl. automation). Acting as a business partner, you will advise numerous internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Service Operations, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, IT) on indirect tax matters.

What to do on Sunday in Basel with 38 °C

My youngest one (8) and his cousin (6) play together well. But we had agreed that we will spend together an exciting, eventful day in Basel. This should not be too difficult because Basel has many things to offer. The only challenge is that the temperature is 38°C in the shadow. After a few steps in the sun one involuntarily becomes a sweat fountain. We thus asked ourselves what to do at 38°C? Continue reading

Mein jüngster (8) und seine Cousine (6) können zusammen gut spielen. Wir haben aber abgemacht, dass wir gemeinsam einen spannenden, erlebnisreichen Tag in Basel verbringen. Das sollte nicht so schwierig sein, da Basel einiges zu bieten hat. Die einzige Herausforderung ist, dass es 38 Grad im Schatten hat. Nach paar Schritten an der Sonne wird man unfreiwillig zu eine Schweissfontäne. Darum haben wir uns gefragt, was macht man bei 38 Grad? Continue reading

Switzerland – file VAT returns electronically

Beginning from Q04/2014 every taxpayer in the respective cantons of “zone 1” (Basel, Solothurn, Thurgau and Uri) has the possibility to file the VAT returns electronically.

The taxpayer will be notified about this new possibility together with the VAT return of the 4th quarter 2014.

During the testing phase every participant still has the chance to file the VAT returns by regular mail.

Mein Sonntag fing katastrophal an. Das Hagelgewitter über Zürich zerstörte sämtliche Pflanzen in meinem Garten (siehe Blog ein gewöhnlicher Sonntag).
