UK – Brexit – VAT, customs, excise and international trade webcast: Succeeding in uncertainty

7 September 2020    |   3pm-4pm CEST

On 13 July 2020, the UK Government published the Border Operating Model which provides guidance on how the customs border for trade between the EU and Great Britain will work following the end of the Brexit  transition period of 31 December 2020.

This includes:

  • up to a six month deferral period for the submission of import declarations for goods imported into Great Britain from the EU between January and June 2021, subject to meeting certain conditions;
  • the introduction of postponed import VAT accounting in the UK;
  • changes to the way VAT will be collected on overseas goods valued below £135 sold to UK customers; and
  • the requirement to continue to submit Intrastat Arrivals declarations where applicable.

We anticipate that there will be more guidance issued over the summer.  Many businesses are working to prepare for the consequences of Brexit, but, due to continued uncertainty and the plethora of new guidance it can be  difficult to know  what next steps to take. During this webcast on 7 September we’ll provide guidance to help you understand the consequences of Brexit and to share insights of our experiences in supporting clients across all sectors in preparing for Brexit.

We will discuss:

  • The general impact of Brexit;
  • The commercial impact of Brexit;
