Sie wurde dieses Jahr 70 Jahre alt. Sie ist weiterhin energiegeladen, emotional und sehr vereinnahmend. Sie kann viel lachen und viel streiten, so wie sie immer tat.

Das Einzige, was sich verändert hat, ist ihre Gesundheit. Da und dort tut es weh, die Krankheiten kommen häufiger und bleiben länger. Das Alter halt.

This year she was 70 years old. She is still full of energy, emotional and very possessive. She can laugh a lot and quarrel a lot, as she always did.

The only thing that has changed is her health. Now and again she feels pain, the illnesses occur more frequently and last longer. That’s old age.

MIDDLE EAST: Bahrain Executive Regulations have been released

Following the publication of the Value Added Tax Law (“VAT Law”) in October 2018, the Bahrain Ministry of Finance (“MoF”) has now released the VAT Executive Regulations. The Regulations provide further details on the application of the VAT Law that will take effect from 1 January 2019 including compliance matters, and the scope of the zero rating and exemptions described at a high-level in the VAT Law.

With very little time until the introduction of VAT, businesses must act now to comply with VAT from 1 January 2019.

EU: Agreement on new rules to tax digital companies’ revenues

EU ministers agreed on the need to establish a common corporate tax base in July 2013. The European Commission presented two directives: a directive establishing a common corporate tax base (CCTB), and a directive on a common consolidated corporate tax base (CCCTB). Both draft directives are still awaiting Council’s agreement. I’m booked on the flight at 6.40 am from Dublin to Zürich. The evening before my departure the reception cannot make my bill, but as customer service they offer to wake me up. I say OK and ask for 4.45 am.

But next morning I’m already awake at 4.15 am and deal with all my mails that have arrived since yesterday evening. I am ready and prepared and wonder why the hotel telephone has not rung. At last I notice that on the telephone a light is on and a message has been left on the telephone answering machine. But the telephone didn’t ring. A special way of waking guests.Read More »
