CEE VAT antifraud conference – Budapest

I am delighted to invite you to the “Mind the VAT Gap! CEE VAT antifraud conference”organised by PwC.

The event takes place on November 19, 2015, in Budapest starting at 8:30 am.

The CEE VAT antifraud conferenceaims to bring together the public finance officials of the 5 CEE countries along with European Commission tax specialists, leading tax consultants and business representatives, in order to find the best ways to tackle the issue of VAT tax evasion throughout the CEE region.

According to a recent EU Commission report, the CEE countries have the highest gap in VAT collection amongst EU member countries – Czech Republic (22.4%), Hungary (24.4%), Poland (26.7%), Slovakia (34.9%) and Romania (41.1%).

As in the current integrated EU economy tax evaders can easily switch countries of residence in order to maximise their gains, tackling in an effective manner tax evasion requires a comprehensive and integrated approach from the countries in region.

The event will be an opportunity for an exchange of views and best practices for enhancing regional cooperation between public finance officials and business within CEE in order to tackle VAT fraud and protect against tax evaders practices.

As a leading global professional services firm, PwC has been constantly engaged with public finance authorities throughout the region in helping to solve important issues and improve the business environment.

The conference is free of charge and I very much hope to have you as guest. I will provide a detailed agenda of the event, including the exact location of the conference, as soon as possible.
