AsconaWir hatten Hunger. In Ascona gibt es eine Menge Restaurants. Aber an diesem Sonntag, an dem ein Feuerwerk geplant war, schienen alle Plätze schon besetzt zu sein. Wir wanderten durch die Altstadt auf der Suche nach einer Lösung. Und da sahen wir eine Osteria. Ein grosser Hof voll von Leuten. My favourite beach


OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt is a lagoon with fine sand and high palm trees, on both sides limited by small hills. It is not a lonely natural paradise but a very populated and lively area, where there is always something going on. The beach was full with small wooden barracks, which housed small shops, restaurants, bars and beauty salons. I loved to sit in one of these bars, feet in the sand. Continue reading

France – VAT rate changes as per 1 of January 2014


The French tax authorities have reconfirmed in the recent Finance Bill that the VAT rate changes will take effect on 1 January 2014. The standard rate will increase from 19.6% to 20%. The intermediate rate will be increased from 7% to 10%. This rate will apply to various goods and services including restaurants and meals for immediate consumption, passenger transport, hotel accommodation, pharmaceutical products not reimbursed by social security and transfers of copyrights.
