I was travelling again. On JFK airport in New York I witnessed a discussion between two women. Both around 40 years old. One of them told her story. She told that she loves her work and is successful at it and that she gets a lot of satisfaction from her work and consequently her career advanced well. Ich war mal wieder unterwegs. Am JFK Flughafen in New York war ich Zeugin einer Diskussion zwischen zwei Frauen. Beide plus minus 40. Die eine hat ihre Geschichte erzählt. Sie erzählte, dass sie ihre Arbeit sehr gerne und sehr erfolgreich macht, dass die Arbeit ihr sehr viel Befriedigung gibt und demzufolge hat sie auch eine gute Karriereentwicklung. There is glitter at every corner; nativity sets and nut crackers (the hit of the London season) are in the shop windows and Christmas songs sound from the shops. Often I think that many architects do not sufficiently consider the gender-specific differences. At almost every major event and by this I don’t actually mean the Olympic Games but theatres, cinemas, etc. there is the phenomenon of queues at the ladies’ toilet. Until 4 November there is this wonderful open-air art exhibition, where things can be touched. I wanted to see it and it was really worth it. The exhibition is huge and anyone not fond of walking is definitely at the wrong place. One needs at least half a day and even then one does not manage to see everything in detail. Bis zum 4. November gibt es diese wunderbare Kunstausstellung zum Anfassen in freier Natur. Ich wollte sie sehen. Und es lohnt sich. Die Ausstellung ist riesig und wer nicht gerne läuft, ist falsch am Platz. Man benötigt zumindest einen halben Tag und da schafft man nicht mal alles ausgiebig zu bestaunen.
