Saudi Arabia: Increase in VAT rate announced to address the Kingdom’s medium and long term fiscal position
The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (‘KSA’) has announced several measures to counter the financial and economic impact of COVID-19 on the government budget. Such measures include a reduction in capital expenditures, discontinuation of the cost of living allowance and an increase in the VAT rate to 15%.

Kommunikation ist ein zentrales Gut. In einer hoch spezialisierten und stark vernetzten Wirtschaft wie der Schweiz ist der schnelle, zuverlässige und sichere Informationsaustausch essentiell. Aber auch wir Menschen brauchen für unser Wohlbefinden Kommunikation, denn wir sind keine Einzelgänger sondern soziale Wesen. Und zu guter Letzt ist speziell in Situationen wie dieser der Staat auf eine effiziente Kommunikation angewiesen.

When I look out the window, everything’s still there. The lake, the Rigi, the old town. Apart from the nature, not much has really changed since the Corona. I sit at the same table in the evening, sleep in the same bed and use the same tube of toothpaste as I did 8 weeks ago and STILL everything is different. But really everything. Looking for the familiar, the things we were used to and the traditions is difficult because they seem to disappear from one day to the next without warning. And I do not consider daily tooth brushing to be one of my traditions.
It feels like we are all locked up in a big rubber ball. A rubber ball you can’t get out of, a ball that rolls and we all don’t really know where the journey is going.
Read More »Wenn ich aus dem Fenster schaue, ist alles noch da. Der See, die Rigi, die Altstadt. Es hat sich, abgesehen von der Natur, nicht wirklich viel verändert im Vergleich zu der Zeit vor Corona. Ich sitze am Abend am gleichen Tisch, schlafe in dem gleichen Bett und benutze die gleiche Tube der Zahnpasta wie vor 8 Wochen und es ist DOCH alles anderes. Aber wirklich alles. Die Suche nach dem Vertrauten, dem Altbekannten und den Traditionen ist schwierig, weil sie scheinen ohne Vorwarnung vom einen auf den anderen Tag zu verschwinden. Und das tägliche Zähneputzen zähle ich nicht zu meinen Traditionen.
Ich habe das Gefühl, als ob wir alle in einem grossen Gummiball eingeschlossen werden. Ein Gummiball, aus dem man nicht aussteigen kann, ein Ball, der sich bewegt und wir alle wissen nicht wirklich wohin die Reise geht.
