New Zealand – Registration obligation as from 1 of December for foreign suppliers

New Zealand has adopted a law that will require offshore sellers, electronic marketplaces and redeliverers to register and account for 15% GST on:

-sales of goods valued at NZD 1,000 or less,

-that are delivered to NZ end consumers,

if these sales exceed NZD 60,000 in a 12 month period.

The charge will apply from 1 December 2019. Systems and pricing will need to be updated to avoid the GST directly affecting profit margins.

With only a few weeks to go, sellers need to act now.
