In the past weeks, the decision of the European Court of Justice regarding the reduction of the VAT assessment base for compulsory manufacturer discounts in the pharmaceutical industry (ECJ, decision dated 20.12.2017 – C-462/16 / Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG) and its practical consequences in the national and international context were intensively discussed in the industry and trade press.
