The Pfingsteggbahn cable railway is celebrating its 50th anniversary on 2 July 2017. The prices are the same as in 1967: Fr. 3.60 single, Fr 5.40 return. A bargain. Everything else is free: the view of the Eiger, the mountain air, friendly and down to earth locals, a calmness that is missing in city dwellers, the fantastic view down to the valley, the toboggan run, the play area, the bells of small goats grazing, the mountain bar and perhaps a few yodlers practicing.
In summer it is very beautiful in Grindelwald and ideas of how to pass the day are endless. I like being there, all’s well with the world, things just take their course and I am relaxed. That makes one feel good, very good. On Tuesday I am flying to New York and that couldn’t be more different. To stop, go back to basics does one good and helps to put things in perspective.
Try it for once! And if you are looking for an idea for a present, what about a candlelight dinner for 2 in a cable car. I’m sure that will be an unforgettable experience, hanging in the air with a view of the Eiger enjoying a gourmet menu. And by the way in this anniversary year on your birthday you can even travel with the cable car free. http://www.pfingstegg.ch
