Surrealism in Paris and sausages in Basel

On Sunday I went with my son to the exhibition „Dalí, Magritte, Miró – Surrealism in Paris“ of the Fondation Beyeler in Basel. My Son is five years old and has a clear opinion regarding the individual artists. He likes René Magritte, Joan Miró, Francis Picabia, Max Ernst and Salvador Dalí very much. Pablo Picasso however does not mean much to him.

To motivate a child for visual arts and a quiet walk through an exhibition is not an easy undertaking. He does like looking at the paintings, however if I would like to look at all works calmly and with enough time, I need to come up with something special. Surrealismus in Paris und Bratwurst in Basel

Ich habe mit meinem Sohn die Ausstellung „Dalí, Magritte, Miró – Surrealismus in Paris“ der Fondation Beyeler in Basel am Sonntag besucht. Mein Sohn ist 5 Jahre alt und hat eine klare Meinung, was den einzelnen Künstler anbetrifft. René Magritte, Joan Miró, Francis Picabia, Max Ernst und Salvador Dalí gefallen ihm sehr. Mit Pablo Picasso kann er wenig anfangen. 

Ein Kind für bildende Kunst und einen ruhigen Durchgang durch eine Vorstellung zu begeistern, ist keine einfache Sache. Er schaut schon gerne Bilder an, aber wenn ich in Ruhe und mit genug Zeit alle Werke anschauen will, muss ich mir für ihn etwas Spezielles einfallen lassen. Ich erkläre ihm jedes Bild und denke mir dabei eine Geschichte aus. Das geht bei den Surrealisten ganz einfach.
