Please note the EU Commission has opened new slots for the online training on the EUDR Information System.

The Deforestation Due Diligence Statement Registry is a specialised online tool that streamlines the creation of due diligence statements within supply chains.

The Registry allows operators, traders and their representatives to make electronic Due Diligence Statements, and submit them to the relevant authorities to show that their products do not cause deforestation, in compliance with the Deforestation Regulation.

Economic operators can register in the Information System. The Information System can be accessed here: https://eudr.webcloud.ec.europa.eu/tracesnt/login. The registration process is explained in detail in the User Manual (below). The system will be opened for submission of due diligence statements ahead of the entry into application.

I’m stupid!!!

I need to manage a lot of different projects at the moment. My calendar is fully booked and there isn’t space for anything new until the end of October. But when the call came in, I knew that it was an emergency and that I needed to help. I had to move all my appointments, had to apologise to a lot of people and arrange new meetings. Friday was thus fully booked out from morning till evening. As I travel a lot, I am well organised and I find packing easy. But because of this exceptional situation I had to take an additional bag.

We should do more to protect the environment

As so often I had arrived too early for my appointment. I hate it when someone comes too late! So I was able to sit outside in the beautiful weather and drink coffee and read the newspaper. A light breeze was blowing, the sun was already up but not yet really hot and the day was awakening to its daily bustle.

I worked my way through the Business Section and then my attention was drawn to a short article with an impressive picture of Miss Switzerland, Jastina Doreen Riederer, in the Jet-Set Section of the paper. I must say that I don’t have much time for the concept of a Miss Switzerland. It’s great if someone has the genetic gift of looking good, but how that should qualify someone to offer a leading opinion on all possible different topics, is beyond my comprehension.

This picture-perfect (and she does look really great) Jastina is spending her vacation on the Maldives and from the Maldives she is sending us the message that we should do more for the environment. On the days where I travel to Portugal it would be better not to travel there. All my travels to or from Lisbon are affected by strikes with grim regularity. Once the public transport staff was on strike, the other time the aviation staff and this time the air traffic controller in France were on strike. And as one is crossing southern France and the choice of travel route is not all that flexible, my first flight at 6.20am was cancelled. And to catch such flight means getting up between 4 and 5am.
